Capstone Marketing Services, an independent, national marketing firm, interviewed RZ to obtain his insights regarding TKM Technologies. RZ is a sales coordinator and buyer for one of the world’s leading manufacturers of top-of-the-line cameras and industrial video equipment.

 Q.  How long have you been buying from TKM Technologies?

 A.   We’ve been buying from TKM for 8-9 years.   During that time we have purchased a wide variety of cables, connectors, and power supplies from them.   I’m not the only person who places orders with TKM.   Other divisions of my company buy from them as well.

Q. How many cables would you estimate your company has purchased from TKM Technologies?

A.  We’ve probably purchased 2,000 to 3,000 or more cables from them during this period.

 Q. How many of TKM’s products have been returned for defects?

 A. In all that time, I would estimate that maybe 2 cables were returned.   In both cases there was a customer problem, not a problem with the quality of the cables we purchased from TKM.

 Q.  Is that typical in the cabling industry?

A. Not at all.  The great thing about TKM Technologies is they work to resolve any issues before they become a problem.   If we need a brand new cable built from scratch, TKM will talk to our engineers to understand our requirements, work out the specifics, send samples, and go through tests before they ship the final product and we put it in our price book.   It’s not typical at all.   I’ve dealt with a lot of cabling companies over the years and I have found things to be totally different with TKM.   They give their customers personal service all the time.   Hands on.  One on one.   Most suppliers have all but eliminated their focus on service.   It’s a very rare thing when you can find TKM’s type of service.

Q.  How would you describe TKM Technologies to someone who has never worked with them?

A. They are 100% quality and 100% service. You have to look at more than just pricing.   You have to look at the total package. When you’re dealing with TKM, you’ll be getting great service… not just purchasing an item.   TKM is a company that stands behind their products.   When a company has a good product, they back it up when any difficulties occur, and they bend over backwards to serve you, that’s a major selling point.   When I’m buying a cable from TKM I’m investing in TKM’s service, not just buying a cable.  It’s all about TKM’s service and their people.  If I need a product real fast, if there’s anything possible Mike Moroff and his staff can do to make it happen, they’ll make it happen.   You can rely on them.   This type of service mentality doesn’t exist anymore.

Q.  Why do you continue to buy from TKM Technologies when there are many other cabling manufacturers you can choose from?

A.   As I said, it’s a big thing with me that a supplier I work with has to be service oriented.   TKM’s type of service doesn’t exist anymore.   When I buy from TKM Technologies I can sleep at night at night for two reasons.   First, you’re 99.99% sure they’ll never be an issue.   Second, if there ever is an issue, you know TKM will make sure it’s handled quickly.   You don’t have to go through dozens of emails, make dozens of phone calls, or yell and scream like you would to resolve an issue with the majority of vendors out there.   With TKM, if there’s a problem, it’s fixed.   End of story.  So I’m sleeping well at night… without a problem!

Q.   What about TKM’s turn-around times and pricing?

A. TKM’s turnaround times are extremely quick.  Nine times out of ten they’ll either have a product in stock or can get be what I need quickly.   If I need 20 cables and they don’t have them in stock, they’ll try hard to at least get me a starter order to tide me over.   TKM is the type of company that will go in on the weekends to help a customer out for Monday.  That type of commitment to service is very rare.

In regards to pricing, TKM is extremely competitive.  In fact they’re lower than what I’ve seen from other suppliers.   I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but the biggest thing with TKM’s pricing is the quality of the service that’s included with the price of their cables.   I use TKM as an example for my other vendors.  If you can find this kind of total relationship you can use it as an example for other companies you want to work with.   TKM is my example, my benchmark, for other companies that want to work with me.   I use them as a reference point.

If I were talking to someone else who is thinking about working with TKM Technologies, I’d tell them, you can buy from another cabling company but you’re going to end up getting products back and you’re going to have a hassle.   With TKM it’s never been that way, so I’ve decided to stay with them. TKM Technologies is a best kept secret. But when people find out about TKM, they end up working with them for the long haul.
